The teachers and staff at St. Agatha-St. Aloysius School use the Ohio Standards and the Diocesan Graded Course of studies to instruct students. Curriculum mapping and the use of student cognitive and achievement data acquired through the Cognitive Abilities Test and the Iowa Test of Basic Skills are used to promote and assess student learning and success.
The students at St. Agatha-St. Aloysius School benefit from Auxiliary Services from the State of Ohio in the form of professional personnel: nurse, speech therapist, psychologist, and textbook clerk. A full-time federally-funded Chapter 1 Basic Skills reading and math teacher also works with the students.
St. Agatha-St. Aloysius School has formed a partnership with the Cleveland State University Teacher Training Program and with Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School MUSP Program. Students acquire service hours by tutoring St. Agatha-St. Aloysius students and help with neighborhood outreach programs in the parish.
UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics) and NIA (Purpose)--two of the seven Principles of the Black Value System--are correlated and integrated with the religion curriculum to enhance self-esteem in students, as well as to emphasize the cultural heritage of the students and to teach morals and values. Most students and families at St. Agatha-St Aloysius School come from other faith traditions. Nevertheless, they willingly participate in religious instruction, prayer, and liturgical services in the school. Daily P.A. announcements by the principal include information about the daily schedule but further encourage students to pray, study, and act in a manner which reflects the values they are being taught at St. Agatha-St. Aloysius School.
